WWP-Group Sets the Course for the Future: New Dual Leadership from October 2024

The sports marketing agency WWP Weirather-Wenzel & Partner AG (WWP-Group) has announced a leadership transition as part of a comprehensive internal reorganisation. Effective 1 October 2024, long-standing management team members Robert Schmidle and Marco Schlegel will assume the roles of Co-CEOs of the WWP-Group.

Current Co-CEOs Mirjam Hummel-Ortner and Philipp Radel will step down from operational leadership and transition to the company’s Board of Directors, where they will continue their successful journey in a new capacity.

Continuity and Forward Momentum

Harti Weirather, founder and Chairman of the Board of WWP-Group, highlighted the significance of this change:

“A successful decade with Mirjam and Philipp at the helm is coming to a close. Alongside impressive growth and strategic investments, they have led the WWP-Group with passion and purpose. On behalf of the entire Board, I thank them sincerely – and I’m pleased they will continue to share their expertise in their new roles.”

Robert Schmidle and Marco Schlegel – A Strong Leadership Duo

Robert Schmidle, who joined WWP-Group in 2009 and co-founded the digital subsidiary D/UNIT, most recently served as Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). In his new role as Co-CEO, he will take primary responsibility for business strategy:

“We’re looking ahead to an exciting future and are ready to take bold steps. Guided by our motto, ‘We are the first choice for bold steps in sports,’ we’ll continue to lead with vision and resolve – always putting our clients’ expectations at the centre and developing innovative solutions. I’m excited to shape this new era alongside a fantastic team of 130 highly motivated colleagues.”

Marco Schlegel, who joined WWP-Group in 2015 and most recently served as CFO and member of the executive management, will assume responsibility for the Group’s organisational and administrative operations:

“We’re inheriting a highly capable and well-positioned team, which puts us in a great position to further professionalise and expand our services for the benefit of our clients and partners. My special thanks go to Mirjam and Philipp – I’m glad we’ll continue to benefit from their expertise and networks.”

Strategic Development and Long-Term Vision

The leadership change follows a long-term strategic planning process. The company remains focused on strengthening its core competencies in sports marketing and sponsorship, while also expanding its market footprint in German-speaking countries.

A Success Story for Nearly 40 Years

Since its founding almost 40 years ago, the WWP-Group has grown into one of the leading sports marketing agencies in German-speaking Europe. This enduring success story will continue under the guidance of the new leadership duo – setting the stage for the next chapter of growth and innovation.
